Im back niccaz!!

Posted by Trompie

Seeing that I haven't update this blog in a minute, I have at least a couple of goodies that I was busy with past hiatus period.

I had an opportunity to be included in a couple of mixtapes and albums (hopefully this niccz will finally release them) that kept me away from this.

I wont put them in order cuz I dont have time to, but here you go:

Nyambz’s Cornerstore mixtape coming soon, 5 track extract from the mix

01 Top Shayela & Measure - Live Life Feat. LT

(Produced by Top Shayela)
02 Poet the Sonnet - Bang Bumdigi Feat. Ras
& Hakeem (Produced by Trompie)
03 Proverb - Untitled (Prod by Top Shayela/Mesure)
04 8th1da - A fool’s lullaby (Prod by Illmind)
05 Maliq - 1983 (Produced by Jake One)

The final mix will include exclusive, never been heard before songs by Tumi, Proverb, Rattex, Anvils, Damola, Nthabi just to name a few, with production by thir[13]teen, Rebbi, Battlekat, Ootz, Dplanet, Hipe, Trompie, DJ Pee Wee, mphazes, etc.

Damola - Cocky Mixtape

Chief Bambata

Hosted by DJ Zakes, your favourite-Bantu-education-accent-kay-slayer, who also did Qba’s groundbreaking ‘Gutter Butter’, Damola’s internet release Cocky Mixtape is a ultra cool blend of more than just good old golden era lyricism over traditional boom bap beats. What makes it different though from other projects that fit that description this year is Damola’s no holds barred honesty and courage to effortlessly delve into different topics in one song wit

hout

straying from its theme. It’s official, homey’s come up with his own slang too coz there’s stuff on there I had to listen to more than

twice that went past me the first two times or so. After reminding y’all that Cap City is still the strongest region in South Africa on ‘In the Street’, the self produced remix to ‘Pound Strong’ from Beat Oven’s mixtape featuring Austin 25 and Ceida

Crook still sounds as good as the first time I heard it. Note to upcoming MC’s: only Ceida Crook can get away with saying stuff like ‘fcuk G-Unit’ without getting an ‘er, what was that about?’ response from me. Can’t wait to see what Stand Up Brothers will sound like too. Anyway back to the issue at hand. On ‘Salt and

Chilli’ and the Trompie-produced ‘Psycho’, Damola shows off yet another feather in his diversity cap and convincingly walks on a path seldom traveled in so-called local Hip Hop- storytelling. Urban Militia do their thing along their former

frontman on ‘Summertime’, these

cats had some buzz early 2000 and just faded a la Loose Canon. Ootz makes an appearance with some haunting ass signature drums and bassline of his on ‘Get Urs’ before handing over to Kenzhero on the retro, funky ‘French Roll’. “You put a boat on a

trailer/…while our kids starving”, Damola lashes at the rich and mighty of this country on ‘Yeah Man’. ‘Closure’ is the final track,

hmm that shit will make you want to call your ex and apologise for the jerk that you are- and probably always will be so don’t do it. Keep it cocky, you’ll be better off (at least I am).
